A ballet for fat people based on Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring: this is the definition of the choreography created by Alberto Velasco, which explores fatness and celebrates the authenticity of fat bodies through dance. The goal of  this defence of fat bodies, which are subjected to an enormous amount of social and cultural abuse, is to make an impact on the collective imagination of the public and challenge received ideas on beauty, frustration, shame and liberation.

Alberto Velasco is a key actor and creator on the Spanish scene. He has worked with a large number of choreographers, including Marta Pazos, Lola Blasco, Carlota Ferrer, Chevi Muraday, Alberto Conejero, Marta Carrasco, Hiroko Tanahasi and Alicia Soto, and has produced numerous shows as a director and multidisciplinary stage creator. He also works as an actor, apart from authoring and directing short films. Velasco has written the book Pobre, gordo y maricon, as well as winning several awards during his career.
