The Sâlmon Festival focuses on contemporary practices in the framework of choreography and dance and includes performative gestures developed in different areas.
The 12th edition of Sâlmon will be held over an intense period of two weeks – at the Mercat de les Flors between 19 and 25 February – and will host performances from local, regional and international artists and will be held in relation to different spaces and audiences in the city.
After a 2023 edition that took place with a long-term discussion based on the following question: how can we maintain a sustained practice during the year?, the 2024 edition will gather together some of what has been developed and generate a meeting point in which, instead of focusing attention on specific pieces, one can imagine the multiple relationships and possibilities of what emerges in empty spaces and the echoes between the different artistic proposals. A potential architecture of experiences which generate possibilities for articulating meaning, based on association and desire.
The lines of the Festival, curated by Andrea Rodrigo and Néstor García in the ’23-’24 edition, delve into the potential of form for the production of situated aesthetic and political sensibilities, modes of transmission that reveal dissident social histories and gestures rooted in bodies, the somatic forms of knowledge that highlight bodily perceptions, textures and intensities, as well as the desire to understand the theatre as a place for the development of political and material imaginations.
