With her performance project “mebrat” / መብራት, Misiker explores the figure of the lighthouse as a symbol of guidance and boundary, translating its flashes of light into rhythms. Using field recordings and personal archives, she creates soundscapes that address displacement, communication, and belonging from a political and sensory perspective. On this occasion, the piece imagines a space between sound, listening, and image, taking the figure of the maritime lighthouse as a point of orientation, transmission, and displacement. Through a printed photograph and a track constructed from recordings, personal archives, and rhythms linked to the lighthouse’s flashes of light, she proposes a landscape between memory, presence, and fiction.

Misiker, also known as Adrasha (Addis Ababa, 1996), is a sound and performance artist based in Barcelona whose work lies at the intersection of sound research, storytelling, and club culture. Focused on exploring underground sounds—particularly contemporary club music from the African continent and its diaspora—Adrasha’s practice seeks to create a dialogue between hybrid musical expressions such as gqom, singeli, future dancehall, and bounce, alongside contemporary experimental electronic music. In her sets, this translates into a kinetic rhythm and a dynamic energy sustained throughout the entire performance. Her approach is also informed by her background in International Relations, exploring music as a living archive and the complexity of the African diaspora’s experiences through collective memory and individual narratives.
