In 2019, the Mercat de les Flors started an artistic residency exchange programme with the National Theater & Concert Hall (NTCH) in Taipei, a programme that was stopped during the pandemic. Last season it resumed with the exchange of artists. El Mercat put forward Roser López Espinosa and the Taiwanese artist Lin-I-Chin came to Barcelona from Taipei, resident at the Mercat who presented her work at the Mediterranean Fair in Manresa.
As a result of this collaboration and with a desire to give visibility to the important creative hub that is Taiwan, this season we present four shows by companies from the Asian country. We will start with a large-scale performance from Cloud Gate, a company with a significant international track record, which will be immediately followed by an exhausting choreography by the Lee/Vakulya duo. The programme will later feature a work that celebrates the traditions of the B.Dance company before ending with the moving duo Beings, by choreographer Wang Yeu-Kwn.
An eclectic look at the creativity coming from Taiwan. Panorama Taiwan is initiated by the cooperation between Mercat de les Flors and National Theater & Concert Hall.
