PATRICIA CABALLERO

Lo raro es que estemos vivos

10th and 11th November
PAST SHOW

THE SHOW

This work will be a turning point in the path that Patricia Caballero took in 2010 with the project Aquí gloria y después paz. This second phase or chapter emerges from an exploration of the intrahistory of certain specific processes of the enculturation of art. Her work draws on her appreciation of the practices and records – which still survive today – of some of the oldest philosophical, religious, popular and artistic traditions.

THE ARTIST

Patricia Caballero, from Cádiz, is interested in perceptual and relational processes, as well as practices and studies of the body and mind. She generally uses the stage as an excuse and context for investigation, understanding and dissemination. Her works range from the stage documentary and the dancing object to urban intervention and self-portrait photography. They include Aquí gloria y después paz (2011), Chronoscopio (2010), Simulacro de simulacros (2008), Cómo congelar fantasmas (2008), Hazañas e incidentes (2007) and 50 Hz (2006). She has also worked as an assistant to Sònia Sánchez, Rui Catalão, Andrés Corchero and Michael Derlatka, among others.

She began training in classical dance in 1992 with Sonia Petrova and in various schools in Spain and Portugal, and studied choreography at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. She is part of the project Ocupaciones organised by La Porta, a platform for independent dance in Barcelona, which has given her support since 2008.
