HOW ROMANTIC is a deeply ironic commentary on how we experience struggles of life as a spectacle – both in their grand gestures and smallest details. We witness an intense marathon, echoing the dance marathons during the Great Depression in the US. There are no winners or losers – only 14 seasoned dancers, in couples, alone, or as a herd of horses, negotiating their way through movement and sound in a relentless choreography. How romantic  creates space for reflection – on power and relations, intimacy, forced entertaining and maybe the role of love as the ultimate finishing line for any race, even when it feels unattainable.

Katerina Andreou was born in Athens and is based in France. She is known for works such as A Kind of Fierce (2016), which won the ImPulsTanz Festival Prize, BSTRD (2018), Rave to Lament (2021), and Bless This Mess (2024). She develops unique physical practices for each project and creates soundscapes that form the core of her performances. Katerina is affiliated with the National Choreographic Center in Caen (2022–2024) and the EXERCE Master’s program at CCN de Montpellier.

Carte Blanche is the Norwegian National Dance Company, based in Bergen under the artistic direction of Annabelle Bonnéry. The ensemble consists of 14 Norwegian and international dancers, and is recognized for its artistic innovation, diversity, and strong national and international presence.
