SPIN OFF DANZA

PERSONA is an inner journey through the body of Daniel Hernández. The artist combines different techniques of artistic expression such as video art and the stage as an installation in itself. The piece portrays ground common to all human beings, who simply because we exist have to support the existential burden of our aspirations under the weight of criticism and, in many cases, under the weight of our own worst enemy: ourselves. It is an adventure that takes us through the escape (fugida), the spiral (espiral) and the abyss (abisme). These are the three scenes that make up this work, which radiates the genius of Unamuno, Friedrich Nietzsche and Milan Kundera.

Spin Off Danza is the brand name under which the choreographer and dancer Daniel Hernández promotes and presents his own works, but Spin Off Danza also emerges as a fleeting meeting point for companies and/or more artists working in the purest spin-off style. Trained in classical dance, Spanish dance, folk, flamenco and contemporary dance, Daniel Hernández began his career as a performer in 1999. During the following sixteen years, he has worked with Ibérica de Danza, Malucos Danza, Ballet Teatro Español Rafael Aguilar and Flamencos en route (Switzerland), among others. As a choreographer, special mention should be made of the third prize he was awarded at the XVIII Flamenco and Spanish Dance Choreography Competition for the piece A pesar de…. Having set up his own company in 2014 this young dancer and choreographer comes to the Mercat de les Flors with PERSONA, his first solo project.
