JUAN CARLOS PANDURO

CIRC D’ARA MATEIX: El patio (work in progress)

May, 4 and 5
PAST SHOW

El patio is an interdisciplinary poetry-circus piece in the making that experiments with intimacy, desire and the power of language through acro-dance, hand balancing, sound work and the use of voice. Searching for the limits between the truly intimate and the completely public, the bowels of the house open up to the sky that observes it: “The one in my house was three long strides by four short strides / I could fit between my mother’s flowers lying down diagonally / … / it was the summer I was reading Ocnos / the neighbour was hanging her two children’s underwear out to dry / we looked at each other / for a long time / so hot”.

Juan Carlos Panduro is a circus artist and poet from Extremadura who began his circus training at Carampa in 2016. He went on to complete several technical courses at DOCH, School of Dance and Circus, and ended up training at the École Superiéure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels from 2019 to 2022. He has participated in international festivals such as FIRCO and Festival Malabharía. He was also in the 2nd graduating class of the Master’s Degree in Poetry at the Escuela de Escritores in Madrid and part of the cast of the 28th Winter Circus of the Ateneu Popular in Nou Barris. Interested in the hybridisation of disciplines and the expressive use of his own circus language, he has not yet found the best way to do a handstand.
