CREA DANCE COMPANY by MARIA ROVIRA

Maria Rovira’s new work for 8 dancers is a journey that reflects on our society and recent events, on “modern” wars and their migratory consequences. The original play does not shy away from pain and tragedy, while highlighting poetic and beautiful images in a visual creation full of rhythm. Odissea speaks of feelings such as absence and survival.

Choreographer Maria Rovira founded Trànsit Dansa, a company with more than 20 works, in 1985. She has also choreographed for numerous international companies, such as Ballet Hispánico de Nueva York, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Ballet Nacional de la Uruguay, the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau Opera Ballet and the American Dance Festival, among many others. In 2017, she founded the Crea Dance Company and presented her first work, Els Ballets de Maria Rovira a Cuba, at the Festival Grec de Barcelona. She has also presented Carmina Burana, in collaboration with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés and co-produced by the Factoria Cultural de Terrassa, and Mozart’s Requiem, which received the Butaca Award for best dance performance, among others. In 1998 she received the National Dance Award.
