Si estiguéssim soles a l’univers, seria una gran pèrdua d’espai (“If we are alone in the universe, it would be a great waste of space”) emerges from the need to share, transmit, develop and multiply the possibilities of the stage language generated in Big Bounce. This was the collective’s first piece, which plays the game of unfolding possible futures deriving from a common origin, and borrows its name from the homonymous theory that suggests that we could be living in the first of all universes, though we could equally well be living in universe number two thousand million (or in any one of an infinite sequence of universes).

In this new piece, the Big Bouncers Collective aims to review, version and squeeze the most out of the materials in Big Bounce in order to expand on, multiply and play with them again. The show proposes an onstage explosion, doubling the number of performers and multiplying the possibilities of creating new imaginaries through bodies that are transformed, substituted and contradicted, which generate new realities and new memories… suggesting parallel universes that cast doubt on the idea of origin. The collective faces the challenge of creating a choreography post-haste in a larger format, with the collaboration of artists willing to take risks, joining the adventure and prepared to question our place in the Universe.

Big Bouncers is a collective formed by three choreographers with an extensive artistic career: Cecilia Colacrai, Anna Rubirola and Mireia de Querol. Formed in 2012, the group carries out research and creative work with the goal of developing a common practice, focused on exploring and going deeper into the new stage languages. Since its beginnings the work of the group has been developed and organised around three lines of action: the creation of pieces for the stage, the creation of performances for non-conventional “site specific” venues, and pedagogy.
