Based on ten pieces by Mette Ingvartsen danced by Manon Santkin during 20 years of partnership, the choreographer has created this solo in which she pays homage to the fact of being a performer. RUSH is a celebration of the body’s capabilities on stage: making up and telling stories, transforming the world through the imagination and reflecting the pure pleasure of performance. As Manon Santkin dances in this solo, she explores the multitude of choreographic resources that she has introduced into Ingvartsen’s work. Her approach is anchored in the present, and rather than an archive, the piece is a vibrant, living composition.
Mette Ingvartsen is a Danish choreographer and dancer. She trained in Amsterdam and Brussels and graduated from P.A.R.T.S. in 2004. Her work fuses dance with other disciplines, particularly the visual arts, technology and language. Ingvartsen founded her own company in 2003 and since then her pieces have been performed all over Europe and in the United States, Canada, Australia and Asia. Furthermore, she holds a PhD in choreography from Lund University in Sweden. The Mercat dedicated a constellation to her in 2023 with several pieces, as well as staging her show Skatepark in 2024.
