OLGA PERICET

La Leona

January, 18 and 19
PAST SHOW

The third project by Olga Pericet supported by the Mercat,. This season we are presenting two pieces from her trilogy. The first of these is free interpretation inspired by La Leona, Antonio de Torres’ famous guitar, the first prototype of a Spanish guitar. Pericet develops a dialogue between the animal and the instrument in a search for the essence of flamenco. The artist takes us through the construction process of this instrument in a piece that was premiered at the 2022 Seville Biennale, full of nuances and poetic textures.

National Dance Award winner in 2018, Olga Pericet is a great innovator in the world of flamenco, who draws inspiration from the traditional, while at the same time experimenting with new perspectives in which flamenco delves into the contrasts between masculinity and femininity, dark and light, disturbing and beautiful. We have been able to see her on different occasions at the Mercat, most recently with Un cuerpo infinito in the 2019-20 season.
