Israel Galván reinterprets Manuel de Falla’s iconic score and dances El amor brujo from his most personal perspective, a no-frills immersion in the depths of this music, with emotional rawness and scenic starkness, accompanied only by a piano and a flamenco singer. A new challenge for the most revolutionary and innovative dancer in contemporary flamenco, who set out to transform himself so that Falla’s music would awaken new unknown movements in him.
Awarded the National Dance Award by the Ministry of Culture in 2005, Israel Galván is renowned for his innovative choreography and refined technique. His vocation for dance began in 1990 and was at the forefront of the avant-garde of contemporary flamenco with works such as La metamorfosis, Galvánicas, Arena, La edad de oro, Tábula rasa, Solo, El final de este estado de cosas – Redux , Israel vs los 3000, La curva, Lo Real or Fla.Co.Men, amongst others. He has collaborated with other artists such as Sol Picó, Enrique Morente, Akram Khan, Pat Metheny, Vicente Amigo and Miguel Poveda, amongst many others. He is currently an associate artist at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris.
