HAPPY is a visceral celebration of the body, its limits and its power. Featuring a devil stick, two bodies that look like four and an irrepressible desire to free oneself, it expresses the possibility of (de)constructing our existence through a vulnerable, rebellious, naked being. In this show, the body serves as a tool and a space that challenges its own limits, where chance happenings and desperation are transformed into performance. Raw, mortal, dissident existence is advocated as a form of circus and celebrates humanity in its highest expression. “When all the doors are open, when all the anchors have taken hold, we will finally be able to dance without falling.”

Cirque Désolé consists of two Argentine creators based in France, Mau Cugat and Julieta Martín. Cugat is a stage artist, choreographer and performer specialized in contemporary dramaturgies. She trained in circus in Argentina, at Codarts (Netherlands) and at Jessica Walker’s Laboratorio Escuela (Barcelona), where she delved into physical theatre and intuitive creative processes. She has worked with the company Circo La Putika (Czech Republic) and tours internationally with her solo Queerass(é): Acto I. Cánticos de un cuerpo sin género. Martín, who specialises in devil sticks, trained in Argentina and at the ESAC (Brussels). She has appeared as a performer with several companies and tours with her solo Pretty for Nobody. Cugat and Martín are the founders and co-directors of Cirque Désolé.
