The piece draws on the “Ball de Cavallets”, a traditional dance with dummy horses, to explore the relationship between horse-breaking and coded choreography as metaphors of control over the body. Dance and horse-breaking share common ground: that of the body as a base for discipline, resilience and expressive power. Brida (“Bridle”) explores one of the most intrinsic human qualities – the command of the body, whether one’s own or someone else’s – and how this power is exercised in the pursuit of an ideal of beauty, virtuosity and aesthetic perfection. This project was the winner of the 2025 Delfí Colomé Prize.

The work of choreographer Ester Guntín takes its inspiration from a wide range of humanistic references and focuses on phenomena relegated to the margins of mainstream narratives. She uses movement, sound, spatial design and dramaturgy as means of expression to transcend the purely choreographic. In 2025, she won the Max Performing Arts Prize for the Best Emerging Creator with Quiso negro and received a MAEC-AECID grant from the Ministry of Culture to prepare Tornaveu at the Spanish Academy in Rome.
