In this piece, Jordi Galí takes breath and soul as an essential principle of existence to create a 17-metre structure, built by performers standing in a circle. The creator thus imagines building a circular space and a suspended time that brings together performers, spectators, passers-by, local residents, men, women and children in a kind of common breath. The construction will be accompanied by music played by bagpiper, composer and improviser Erwan Keravec, who will play the great Highlands bagpipe live.
Jordi Galí has worked as a dancer with Wim Vandekeybus, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Maguy Marin, among others. He started to develop his own work and created the Arrangement Provisoire company in 2007. Since 2014, he has been sharing the company’s artistic direction with the choreographer Vania Vaneau. His work focuses on exploring the relationship between body and materials, between movement and object, and is intended particularly for public spaces. As ephemeral monumental constructions, his performances open a unique temporality in urban or natural landscapes.
