Fascinated by the migrations of birds, we want to learn to fly. Lowland returns us to the animality of the body and movement, to learning, effort, tenacity and endurance, to beauty, the spirit of self-improvement and the spirit of freedom. To leave or to put down roots? Lowland is each individual’s landscape and journey. We can only fly with our bodies and we will need inventiveness and imagination in order to get a pair of wings. An imaginary world of birds and men, full of light and vitality in the lowland.

Roser López Espinosa graduated in contemporary dance from the MTD – Theaterschool / Higher School of Arts in Amsterdam (AHK). In 2005 she was awarded a danceWEB scholarship in Vienna and trained with former Olympic gymnastics coach Jaume Miró. She has danced in The Netherlands with Katie Duck / Magpie Music Dance Company, Marta Reig Torres and Pere Faura. In Barcelona she has worked mainly with Àngels Margarit / Cia Mudances, as well as with Cesc Gelabert and Isaki Lacuesta, Iago Pericot, Las Malqueridas and Bebeto Cidra, among others. Since 2006 she has also developed her own work as a maker (including The lizard’s skin, Còncau, Miniatura), which have won international recognition with awards at Masdanza, the Burgos-NY and Madrid choreography competitions. Miniatura was selected by Aerowaves in 2011.

In 2013 she premiered the duet Lowland, in coproduction with Mercat de les Flors, and it is currently touring internationally. In 2014 she created the piece Hand to hand for dance company Conny Janssen Danst in Rotterdam, being selected for the company spring tour 2015. Her work and workshops have been programed at European international festivals, Egypt, Argentina, Panama, Chile, Canada and Japan.

“It is superb, magnetic, I would even dare to say hypnotic.” Jordi Cervera, Catalunya Ràdio

Lowland is a miniature sculpted with clockmaking precision. A precise, suggesting and hypnotic dance. // At the end of this exhausting physical duel, both performers, panting, seemed convinced that they have actually flown. We are too”.

M.E.N, presented by EDHEM JESENKOVIC

M.E.N grabs life by the balls.
Balancing humour and seriousness, with a healthy dose of irony, four male dancers raid the lives of modern men to give us a fresh and sensitive take on male identity. Packed with energy, fragility, passion and beauty, M.E.N exposes inner worlds and outer conflicts in this honest and athletic piece.

Edhem Jesenković – dancer/composer/choreographer/ – was born at Gradska Bolnica u Rogatici in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1977. He attended The Royal Music Academy in Sarajevo. Edhem migrated to Stockholm in 1996, and started his career as a dancer at The Royal Swedish Ballet, where he graduated in 1999. He is now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Edhem has worked with many different projects, companies and choreographers such as Danish Dance Theatre, Carte Blanche, Galili Dance Company, Ballet Gulbenkian, Ohad Naharin, Philippe Blanchard, Andersson Dance, Skånes Dansteater, Granhøj Dans, Zero Visibility, Kitt Johnson X-act, among others.

As both a choreographer and musician, Edhem Jesenković works intensely with rhythm, musicality and an insisting kind of humanism. He works physically with the performers revealing their inner layers of their personalities. He challenges them to push the borders with in themselves, through his method the movement and mental conditions creates a honest physical approach towards the theme of every creation.
