DAVID LAGOS with Mercedes Ruiz

A homage to Jerez, not only to its music but also to its streets, its customs, its history, its past and its most notable performers and styles. A show that is 100% Jerez. A journey into the city’s past through flamenco. Dance, guitar and especially singing. Drawing on the CD Mi retoque al cante jerezano David Lagos comes to Ciutat Flamenco accompanied by an artistic cast consisting of the dancer Mercedes Ruiz, Perico Navarro on percussion, Santiago Lara on guitar and Melchora Ortega and El Londro on vocals.

Born into a family with a long tradition of flamenco singers, David Lagos travelled to Japan when he was very young to work professionally as a singer. In 1997 he joined Cristina Hoyos’ company to participate in her show Arsa y toma, with performances in Europe, North America and Latin America. In 2005 he joined Israel Galván’s company, with whom he achieved great professional success. Four years later he released El espejo en que me miro, his first solo recording, and in February 2014 he presented his second album, Mi retoque al cante jerezano. His awards include the Lámpara Minera at the 2014 Festival de Cante de las Minas de La Unión.
