La Cosa is the result of a three year long research during which two subjects have been extensively explored: the importance of rituals and the impact of a natural material on the audience’s impressions. Since September 2014, wood has imposed itself as key material on stage. It has become the source of the choreographical purpose of la Cosa.
Claudio Stellato’s goal here is to scenarize the making of objects and spaces from a raw material, for instance by showing the physical process implied in the construction aswell as in the destruction of a structure or a sculpture. During the show, the four performers produce intense physical efforts with a lot of technical precision. Meanwhile, they focus on a range of human relations such as cooperation, competition, violence, gentleness, trust and complicity.
La Cosa goes beyond the principle of having a narrative, in order to invite the audience to a deep and malicious trip to discover all of the many aspect of this one and only element: wood.
