JUAN DOMÍNGUEZ

Festival IF: Dirty

November, 7
Popup - Descomptes

Drawing on the tangible experience of touching clay with his hands, in this participatory performative installation Juan Domínguez aims to draw attention to other senses beyond sight, such as touch and hearing. It is about developing a form of listening through contact, where contact is a source of knowledge. There are two underlying questions in the show: What am I listening to when I touch something? What am I touching when I listen to something? The work reflects the importance of what takes place between bodies while they listen and touch together.

Juan Domínguez’s activity as an artist, creator, curator and teacher focusses on the fields of choreography and the living arts. He lives and works concurrently in three cities, Berlin, Mexico City and Madrid. Since 1992 he has developed a practice that explores theatre as an expanded medium, rethinking the limits of dance and performance through research into the body, time, space and perception. He has created numerous shows and also built up a notable body of work in the areas of programming and curatorship.
