MANUEL RODRÍGUEZ

The world of dreams has always been the non-space where the real and symbolic dimensions fuse together. Somehow, during the dream state, the body and mind overlap in an unbroken loop. The contrast between the two may represent a kind of inner struggle between the tangible being and the projected being.

The setting in which this vision is developed emerges from an unreferenced void, reduced to a state of abstraction that does not take on significance until the physical entity of its inhabitant appears. This is the place where the impulsive, dynamic body recounts its dreamlike narrative, its transformation and its metabolisation into different states, from the purest and most elementary to the most synthetic and artificial, where abstraction and substance amalgamate.

R.E.M. revolves around the void, its ceremonial, symbolic re-enactments and its projection inside the being.

Personal presentation
Tanto este trabajo como el anterior Screensaver se caracterizan por su tono contemplativo. Cuando uno observa algo con el debido tiempo, acaba viéndose a si mismo. Nuestra realidad es producto de nuestra forma de mirar, de alguna manera vemos lo que queremos que se vea.
