(LA) HORDE – BALLET NATIONAL DE MARSEILLE

This proposal blends the explosiveness of Oona Doherty – a leading performer of realistic, urban, dynamic dance from Belfast – and Lasseindra Ninja – the French queer voguing icon – with the rigour and clarity of Lucinda Childs and Tânia Carvalho, who use group images as their starting point and share a profound sense of line and rhythm. The New York-born artist recreates Tempo Vicino, a work she wrote in 2009 for the Ballet national de Marseille. This piece is linked to the Lucinda Childs constellation, which this season will take place in March 2023.

Since 2019, the (LA)HORDE collective has worked under the direction of the CCN Ballet national de Marseille. Using films, performances and choreographic pieces, it questions the political component of dance and traces a route through different choreographic forms of social uprisings: from raves to traditional dances and jumpstyle.
