JONAS & LANDER

This show, a cross between dance and musical concert, is performed by five dancers, a fadista and four musicians. Jonas & Lander set out to reinterpret and recover the fado accompanied by zapateados, in which the quality of a percussion instrument arises from the dance that converses with the voice and guitars. Thus, this show is the first step in recovering the dance that fado lost.

Based in Lisbon, the Portuguese artist Jonas and Brazilian artist Lander have been collaborating together since 2010. Their work stands out for their exceptional quality, containing unique features that explore the fusion between different performing arts with a strong focus on music. Since their piece Casco d’OvO in 2013, Jonas & Lander have consolidated themselves through critically acclaimed works and have received the support of various institutions, both in Portugal and in the rest of Europe. They have created a wide range of works throughout their career.
