JESÚS RUBIO GAMO + DANCE ON ENSEMBLE

This project is the fruit of the partnership formed by Jesús Rubio Gamo and the Berlin Dance On Ensemble, a German company made up of experienced dancers and choreographers of over 40 years of age. Eight dancers, four from each company and with different ages and styles, take part in a choreography that has emerged from Rubio Gamo’s interest in combining the poetics of the group with the poetics of the individual and letting both express themselves to create a joint structure.

Jesús Rubio Gamo’s shows have been staged at festivals such as the Chantiers d’Europe at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the Brandhaarden Festival at the International Theatre in Amsterdam, the Dansnät Sverige (National Dance Network of Sweden), the Hay Festival in Arequipa, the Festival de Otoño in Madrid and the Festival RomaEuropa. Nominated one of the twenty most outstanding young choreographers on the current European scene for two years in a row (2017 and 2018) by the Aerowaves Dance Network, he has appeared at the Mercat on two occasions – both with Gran Bolero, a choreography featuring six dancers from Madrid and six from Barcelona. Co-produced by Teatros del Canal and the Mercat de les Flors, it won the Max Award for the best dance show in 2020.

Dance On Ensemble was formed in 2015 in Berlin with the goal of highlighting the experience and capacity of experience dancers and choreographers of over 40 years of age. The company has a wide repertoire that receives the support of numerous artistic facilities and infrastructures.
