In Difference is a show with two artists and two large steel rings, a physical journey inside the apparatus that brings them together: the Cyr wheel. They use their physical and technical differences as a creative driving force. With opposing ways of using the wheel, they develop a hybrid physical repertoire around the apparatus. In a combination of confrontation and complicity, the two artists propose a constant transformation of the wheel that highlights the sincerity of the circus. In Difference is a journey towards a gradual break with the traditional uses of the wheel, to the point of bringing it to life.

While sharing the same fascination with exploring the possibilities of the Cyr wheel, Marica Marinoni and Jef Everaert have developed different practices. Over the years, they have become increasingly united by the same obsession, which has led them to delve deeper into two very different sides of the same discipline. In 2022 they formed a new partnership with the aim of developing a joint project in which their research interests around the wheel would play a central role.
