QUARTIER LIBRE – DIANA SALLES

This contemporary circus solo fuses raw physicality, movement and a deeply personal exploration of identity and transformation. Through gravity-defying aerial acrobatics, Diana takes us on an emotional journey, confronting the illusions we create to navigate life and the truths we have to cope with to become ourselves. DELUSIONAL is a forceful reflection on the beauty and challenges of self-discovery, inviting the public to experience the layers of who we are and the versions of ourselves we have yet to become. A solo about rebirth that has further consolidated Diana’s role as a leading voice for queer identities in contemporary circus. The show made its debut at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival, where it received the Best of Fringe – International Bursary prize and also won the Freiburger Leiter prize, awarded by a prestigious German platform.

Born in Brazil, Diana Salles has become a leading voice in contemporary circus. A graduate of the prestigious École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Belgium, she has specialised in aerial silks. Her work focuses on the power of circus to bring social issues onto the stage. She obtained worldwide recognition in 2019 with her aerial silks act, Genesis, which  won the bronze medal and the Prix de la Ville de Paris at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, and the Audience Award at the FIRCO in Madrid. Since then, Diana has created various new circus acts and performed in several socially relevant shows.
