Dance and choreography leave traces that remain in the body for a long time; mostly they are ghostly traces which involve the memory of movements that continue to inhabit the body. Daniel Linehan explores this idea by relating it to his own body and to the history of his journey as a dancer and choreographer, delving into 19 years of choreographic work, uncovering fragments that are still present in his body. The result is a choreography about the passage of time, which recognises its ineluctable inscription in our present.
Daniel Linehan’s choreographic work first came to public attention in 2004 with the solo Digested Noise. In 2005 and 2006, he worked with four other dancers to create The Sun Came and Human Content Pile. His solo Not About Everything premièred in 2007 and has been presented in over 75 venues. In 2010, Linehan completed the Research Cycle at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels and he created over 15 productions in Belgium. Linehan also developed Vita Activa, a participatory project for 40 unemployed people, and the book A No Can Make Space which gathers and organizes the traces of ten years of choreographic practice.
