Hibrid Accions shows the final result of an investigation into the ability of the hands to generate forms. The collection of over a thousand figures that Nico Baixas has gathered together and organized into families is being exhibited for the first time, almost in its entirety and in order from the simplest to the most complex, in a show that combines painting, body, dance, hands, sculpture, video, sound, space, structures…

Based on the development of geometric figures such as the circle, line, curve and triangle, Nico takes his hands to the limit of their possibilities and reveals a world of finger proportions that interrelate in the most surprising ways. The software and multimedia elements used in the piece not only serve to display the more abstract parts, those that offer a more open interpretation, but also interact with photographic images using the forms of hands and also the body in order to communicate with the audience in a more tangible, everyday, direct and narrational pictorial language.

Nico Baixas is a performer and multimedia artist. His pieces combine elements and ideas that lie halfway between performance, the visual arts, multimedia and visuals. He has many years of experience as a theatre actor under his belt and been a member of the companies General Elèctrica and Rodrigo Garcia’s La Carnicería. He has also worked with Marcel·lí Antúnez, Ojos de Brujo, Frederic Amat, Joan Baixas and Sonia Gómez, among others. In addition, he has toured on his own for the last 10 years with a show created by his mother and performed solely with the hands. In the field of cinema, as well taking on acting roles, he has worked as a scriptwriter, director and editor in New York and Barcelona.
