OLGA MESA / CIA HORS CHAMP // FUERA DE CAMPO

Una Mesa Propia (danza de manos)

January, 17 and 18
Popup - Descomptes

This story is anchored in a feminine imaginary, where several inspirational female figures (Marián Suárez, Virginia Woolf, Isadora Duncan and Olga Ivanovna Preobrazhenskaya, among others) are created as characters in a dreamed dialogue, together with more everyday presences: mother, sister, friend… Olga Mesa proposes to construct a landscape in continuous movement and transformation, inviting us to discover sites of sensibility at once personal and collective. Una Mesa Propia is a choreographic and cinematographic story, a cartography of presences that transports us towards horizons of intimate resistances. Beyond that, it is a constellation of shared dreams and visions of the future.

Olga Mesa, a key figure in Spanish contemporary dance in the 1990s, lives and works in Strasbourg. She has made the camera her accomplice, questioning through it the experience of space and the construction of the gaze, in which her body becomes the tool of vision, the subject and object of her narratives. Since 2010, she has co-directed her company Hors Champ // Fuera de Campo with the Basque off-format artist Francisco Ruiz de Infante. Together they develop new space-time constellations in which their artistic languages, concerns and visions of future resistances converge and interact.
