The piece unfolds within the seemingly classical triangle of piano, pianist and dancer to subvert expectations through a dizzying ritual of the playful, grotesque and transgressive. It is an exploration of the limits of the body, where movement and sound renegotiate the norms and rules that govern their encounter. Driven by the urgencies of the present, these tensions manifest themselves as a potent source of affection and turbulence. It is this link that confirms the desire to create a piece like NO/MAS/SACRE, from a decolonial, feminist and committed perspective.
Reinaldo Ribeiro’s work moves between choreography, live arts and what he calls “cosmic perreo”. It explores the relationship between politics and poetics, between the personal and the pathetic. He is particularly interested in an expanded scene and in practices and projects that activate decolonial thought and perspective. He is co-founder of the Lamajara collective and was co-director between 2013 and 2020. He is currently working as a performer with the choreographer Aleksander Georgiev (Bulgaria), with André Uerba (Portugal) and with United Cowboys (Netherlands). He is an associate artist at Art House (Eindhoven).
