BALLET ESTATAL DE HESSEN

The Hessian State Ballet presents three choreographies: Midnight Raga, by Marco Goecke, a piece based on the Indian music of Ravi Shankar created especially for two dancers who interpret Goecke’s unmistakable and nervous language of movements. We will continue with Bouffées, by Leïla Ka, a re-staging of the independent production of the French choreographer. This award-winning work created in 2022 portrays five women caught in the clutches of pain. Lined up in floral dresses, the five bodies create a physical and sound cacophony, intertwining breaths, recurring gestures and a rhythm in which they fall and rise again. And finally I am afraid to forget your smile, a work by the Dutch brothers Imre and Marne van Opstal, emerging stars of the European dance scene; this piece for six dancers presents voice and movement working in tandem and in opposition, accompanied by choral music, on this ocasion they’ll be accompanied by the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The Hessian State Ballet is the dance company shared by the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and the Staatstheater Darmstadt. Founded in 2014, since the 2020-2021 season Bruno Heynderickx has directed the group of 28 dancers who produce an average of four programs each season by well-known guest choreographers, both German and international.
