ZOO / THOMAS HAUERT

This new creation immerses itself in the physicala relationship between life and Earth, underscoring that we are part of nature. The essence of the movement of the human body as a raw material contains the resistance to the most destructive and relentless forces in the universe. With an abstract dramatics closer to musical composition than theatrical narration, this play is like an ode to life, to Earth and its fragile atmosphere.

Swiss choreographer Thomas Hauert founded ZOO in 1998 in Brussels after working as a dancer with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, David Zambrano and Pierre Droulers, among others. Since then the company has created more than 20 pieces that have been performed around the world. In addition to his work for ZOO, Hauert has been commissioned by other companies. He has also developed an internationally recognized teaching method based on research on movement, which he did through his company. He regularly gives workshops in many countries.
