We present this piece in the process of creation with the support of the TT (Tenir Temps) project of the Mercat de les Flors, with the collaboration of the Fundación Banco Sabadell. “To cut one’s teeth” is an English idiom that means to learn something from scratch. It is the seed for Mabel Olea’s idea of staging her proclamation as an artist, linking her image with that of a diamond to represent the journey of transformation from a rough diamond to a polished diamond. It is an exploration of perfection and beauty. From a precise movement proposal that draws on the imaginary of dance and the classical dancer, the artist sculpts the body as if it were a diamond cutting itself.

Mabel Olea is a dancer-performer and choreographer whose aim is to trace new narratives in dance and performance that allow us to rethink the formats of creation. Her artistic proposal stands out for her commitment, humour and irony, with unusual movements that play with the limits of the body. She also works with other artists from the world of dance and performance as well as audiovisual media, film and theatre: Marta Pazos, Marie Gyselbrecht, Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, Núria Guiu, Les Impuxibles, Pablo Messiez and Rigoberta Bandini.
