SALVA SANCHIS, ANNE TERESA DE KEERSMAEKER / ROSAS

A Love Supreme is a quartet choreographed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Salva Sanchis in which four performers dance to the music by John Coltrane that lends its name to the show, one of the essential jazz compositions of the twentieth century. A Love Supreme gives rise to the highly intuitive, freeform expression of musical structures based on the blues. Here, the materials resulting from improvisation and composition are brought into combination; interwoven and blended together as expressed by the music itself.

The Catalan dancer and choreographer Salva Sanchis has produced several pieces with Keersmaeker for her company Rosas. At the Mercat we present their latest joint work, which is part of a series that will also feature one of Rosas’s cult pieces at the beginning of the season, Rosas danst Rosas, and a solo piece by Salva Sanchis, Radical Light.
