BARÓ D’EVEL CIRK CIE.

Taking advantage of the modernisation work being carried out at the Mercat, Baró d’evel invite us to accompany them on an original tour of some of the places at this venue that go unseen by the public – backstage corridors and stairs and so on. This young but multiple-award-winning company proposes a kind of laboratory, where it presents small “works” that have emerged from the various research projects completed in 2013 at various dance creation centres. It consists of allowing the public to discover the company’s creative processes, rather like a visit to a construction site. Artists from various disciplines have been invited to participate by the company.

Baró d’evel cirk cie, founded in 2001 by Camille Decourtye and Blaï Mateu Trias, won the National Circus Prize of Catalonia with its delightful spectacle La sort du dédans, co-produced by the Mercat itself. Last season the Mercat also co-produced and staged the show Mazùt, which was very highly acclaimed. The company has staged its six shows in many countries, in over 550 performances.
