Not only did the mothers of these two artists share the same name they were both also born in Argentina in the 1950s as the daughters of European war refugees, and both later emigrated to Spain in their adult lives. Both also created images: Mónica Lilienfeld’s eco-feminist paintings and Mónica Pezdirc’s erotic photographs serve as the inspiration for this creation. The artists are developing a piece in which they reflect on a genealogy in which the epic of wars and migrations coexist, as well as including references to other elements, such as songs, lovers, monsters and ghosts.

The work Pablo and Federico have created since meeting in 2014 has been interlinked with their romantic relationship: using intimacy as a starting point to explore collective representations that question the hegemonic forms of “self-narration”. Their performances, videos, installations and games are tools they use for the creation of worlds and genealogies. Speculative fiction is the common thread that runs through all their work, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of practices, such as synchronised swimming, raving and role-playing games.
