MAL PELO, María Muñoz – Pep Ramis

María Muñoz and Pep Ramis, the artistic directors of Mal Pelo, have prepared a new work for the stage, Tots els noms ─ with the special collaboration of Leo Castro ─, in which María Muñoz continues her research into the solo performance format. Tots els noms is a journey of discovery through the names that make up a specific body, which inhabit it and project it. A reflection on designation and self-confirmation through names, with texts inspired by Carlos Thiebaut’s book, Historia del nombrar.

María Muñoz and Pep Ramis formed the dance group Mal Pelo in 1989. Since its beginnings the company has based its work on unremitting research into languages. During its early years, the group went on numerous international tours. Among other awards, Mal Pelo has received the 2009 National Dance Prize from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the 2001 National Dance Prize from the Catalan Government. In 2001 Pep Ramis and María Muñoz opened L’animal a l’esquena, a centre for creation and multidisciplinary exchange based at a farmhouse in Celrà (Girona). The centre is a haven for experimentation and the exchange of ideas and experiences among stage directors, musicians, video artists, theorists and dancers, who participate through residencies, workshops and laboratories.
