First performed at the Sant Andreu Teatre SaT! in 2012, this piece by La Veronal is being revived for the SÂLMON< festival. Islàndia is an onstage exploration of the value of the image and the concept of reality and looks at the importance of this image on a social level and its significance. However, Islàndia also poses questions about the social model that governs our lives and the need to find a new model that is credible in the midst of this global crisis. The choreographer has chosen Iceland as a country whose social model proves that other forms of government are possible. Dissociating the image from its meaning leads us to a new truth, leads us to Islàndia.

Founded by Marcos Morau in 2005, La Veronal is one of young Catalan companies with the solidest reputation and greatest national and international projection. Morau has produced several shows, all named after world cities, and has won numerous awards that confirm the company’s unstoppable progress. In 2011 the Mercat co-produced and staged the highly acclaimed Rússia, which counted on the collaboration of film director Cesc Gay. Morau has been guest choreographer to the prestigious Denmark Opera Cross Connection Ballet and the Swedish company Norrdans. La Veronal currently presents its shows at some of the most important venues and festivals worldwide, including the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris, Venice Biennale, DanceSalad Festival in Houston, Julidans Amsterdam, Romaeuropa Festival, Festival SIDance in Seoul, Stockholm DansensHus, Sadler’s Wells in London and the Internationale Tanzmesse in Düsseldorf. Last year the Spanish Ministry of Culture awarded Marcos Morau the 2013 National Dance Prize.
