Portland, by LA VERONAL & LALI AYGUADÉ

Lali Ayguadé and Marcos Morau have met up to work together for the first time in their careers. On the one hand, Marcos Morau and his company La Veronal are immersed in a research process focussed on choreographic language and the creation of a vocabulary of movement associated with imagination, auto-stimulation and connection with tools specific to space, form and route – a language they have been developing for some years and call KÓBA. On the other hand, Lali Ayguadé, trained at P.A.R.T.S. and a dancer with Akram Khan and Hofesh Schechter, starts her career as a choreographer, applying her own conceptions and the unique style of movement that so characterises her.

La Veronal’s vocabulary of movement and Lali Ayguadé’s personality come together on this occasion to present Portland, a reflection on the power of contemplation.

Does the idea of contemplation take precedence over the idea of action? Does contemplation as mere fiction provoke a possible interaction in the observer? Is it impossible for us as observers to evade our responsibility towards what we see? Does contemplation as an entertainment serve to avoid what we should confront?

Stuntman, by UMMA UMMA DANCE

Stuntman is a reflection on mutable identity of the human being and his need to be reflected in the eyes of others. A free fall in a subtle emotional line that separate fiction from reality, where life has value and meaning only in the action.

Since its foundation (Barcelona, 2010) the company has been invited to international festivals with works that have received numerous choreographic awards in international competitions such as Burgos-New York, Masdanza, Madrid and Copenhagen among others.
