Caída Libre has won the award for the “Best Dance Show” at the International Theatre and Dance Festival Huesca 2014

Caída libre explores a basic trait of human nature: the survival instinct. The piece reflects on how, in groups, individuals search for meaning and freedom, getting back up after falling down in an unending cycle repeated every day. The cornerstone of this exploration by Sharon Fridman is the technique of contact improvisation, this being understood as an existential philosophy that implies a conscious relationship with others, with matter and the elements. With six lead dancers, Caída libre will include the participation of a group of twenty people from Barcelona who will receive training from the company in the same week.

Folklore and contemporary dance define the dance experience of this young Israeli artist (Hadera, 1980), resident in Madrid and current director of the Sharon Fridman company. After training in prestigious Israeli companies, he began working as a choreographer in 2000, at the age of 20, with the creation of the group Phrasal. Other highly acclaimed, prize-winning shows by Fridman are Rizoma (2012), co-produced by the Festival Quartier d’Été in Paris and premiered at the Invalides in Paris with 70 dancers and 10 cellos, Inner (2012), Al menos dos caras (2011), Hasta dónde…? (2011), Shakuff (2010), Q Project (2008), Carlos & Me (2007), Play Boy (2005), The Creation (2004) and Waiting (2003).
